How did I get here?
Ever since I was young I was heavily influenced by my granddad to pick up a camera and start snapping. Any family event and my granddad would be there with his SLR, a Nikon I think, he swore by it. Unfortunately my grandparents were burgled and they took his pride and joy. My granddads love for photography wouldn't let that stop him so although downgrading due to all his lenses being stolen, he brought another Nikon.
Later on a family friend, Harry Scotting, who was also a photographer, had a studio in Putney, London. My brother and I would often go with him to photo shoots. In my teens I took a behind the camera approach whilst my brother got involved in some shoots for the new white Milky Ways (before they were brown) and some Twix ice creams on Putney bridge. He was always a lot better in front of the camera than me. I was very influenced by Harry and soon became interested in the work of Man Ray a famous artist of the 1900's. I spent time experimenting with Photogram's or rayographs as Man Ray used to call them with thanks to Harry. Even at a young age I loved the creativity!
It wasn't until my college days when I had a part time job that I purchased a Minolta SLR. As soon as I took my first roll of film I loved the anticipation of seeing how the picture would come out, some were good, some were bad but that was all part of the excitement! While at college I discovered some old film in the dark room from years ago of a girls face submerged in water, hair floating like a human Medusa. There was something intriguing and melancholic about these negatives, almost as though they had been left for me to find. Sadly I don't have these negatives anymore but this inspired me and gave me the creative freedom and tools to be able to learn how to develop film, expose film to photographic paper and combine with other forms of media, a little like the works of Robert Rauschenberg. I really thrived on this creativity as I was able to experiment with exposures and effects on developing images I also explored adding different layers and paint to these images. This exploration helped me accomplish my BTEC in general Art & Design.
I then went on to Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College to study Graphic Design & advertising for 3 years. Here I used a wide variety of medias for my courses and projects including: Fine art, silk screen print, photography, and maquette making for future 3D products. I mainly concentrated on photography for my projects if it wasn't the end result it helped me get there. For my final degree piece I made photography flick books of shadows within a certain time frame and a light art product for possible sale in home shops.
Although I had a Minolta camera I also invested in a digital camera (Olympus C150,D390) at the time a 2mp compact which was a half decent size believe it or not! A few years after I invested in a LOMO camera too, a camera made in Kiev it was part of the camera movement Lomography. It was an analogue compact version of my SLR but with mixed results. It gave images light leaks, noise and other filter type effects you would normally associate with Instagram or digital photo filters nowadays. I ended up using all my cameras for different purposes and results in the end.
I enjoyed my time at university immensely and learnt alot, my three years resulted in a 2.1 BA(hons) in Graphic Design.
After university I started work full time replicating CD's and DVD's for Deluxe media so didn't have much time for photography, in fact, at one point in my life I hadn't picked up my camera for a good few years as I spend alot of time getting into film, both horror and worldwide film. I invested in another few digital cameras along the way but was only really using these for holidays and didn't have much interest in anything else. My last camera before my current Sony Nex-5 was the Kodak Z1285 Zoom. This was an easy to use, good compact camera and for no other reason really than using it more for social occasions, holidays. My friends and family started to compliment and praise my photography and I soon found that creative fire that once burned at university and college had returned. A few shots from this camera are below.
Now I am a keen amateur togger with a passion for photography and a natural eye for detail. From the grime of Urbexing, to the beauty of Landscapes you'll find my shots have a simple connection with contrast, something my eyes seek out naturally through the lens. I take my camera where ever I can so have a diverse variety of work. My photography reflects moods, feelings and emotions which I try to convey by encouraging the viewer in to make their own connection with the image. I have recently been adding the title of my images within the frame. I feel this give a graphic type element to the shot.
Panning the streets, abandonment's, and landscapes I adventure and experiment with the Sony NEX-5 using a 16mm, 18-55mm and a Sigma telescopic lens for my work, although I do plan on upgrading to a new Sony camera soon. I have shot many social events like the London Tattoo Convention, family and friends Weddings, festivals particularly Bloodstock in the UK, gigs around Brighton and London, the Brighton Zombie March and a vintage market in Shoreham-by-Sea. That's really just a small glimpse of where me and my lens have been.
So that's me and my story so far. If you've stuck around and read this I appreciate your time and hope you're happy to follow me on here and any of my social media sites. Come say hi. It would be a pleasure!
Other interests are below if you fancy seeing what else I am interested in.

Other Interests
Hi again, thanks for continuing to read on..
I have many other keen interests and feel I have been lucky enough to have traveled to Europe, Turkey, many parts of America and Mexico but would still like to do more especially, Japan, Thailand where my father currently resides and New Zealand.
Last year I skydived for my 30th birthday, which was a great experience and is possible on a stomach full of sausage sandwich! (yes you read that correctly) I have also climbed Ben Nevis back in 2008 which was very hard work for me, I made it and am proud of that. Along with Skiing which I am not great at due to a few trips, snapped shoulder tendons! and embarrassing moments but i still love the trill you get from skiing down a mountain at great speeds. I have now been skiing 3 times and snowboarding once. I am a thrill seeker at heart so enjoy heights and speeds. It has to be said I like the odd roller coaster too.
I have a passion not only for photography but music and enjoy the heavier more experimental side of things. Popular music isn't challenging enough for me and I have a whole lot more admiration for artists who learn and play their own instruments and write their own music which I know alot of artists in popular music don't. Some artists I have had the pleasure of seeing include Sunn0))), Iron Maiden, Metallica, Scroobius Pip, Isis, System of a Down, Converge, 65 Days Of Static, Katatonia, Paradise Lost, and Opeth to name a few. Also appearing on Live DVD's Paradise Lost (Draconian Times MMXI) DVD, and Opeth (The Roundhouse Tapes) 2CD + DVD. As you can see/hear I have a diverse taste but enjoy all genres of music to an extent. As long as it emotes a feeling or an emotion. I have also photographed friends bands such as Shreddertron and the Damn Dirty Humans (all photography on their website © voiceb[©]x photography). I own a Peavey 5 string bass guitar too but have had little time to practice, this is something I want to try and do in the future.

Film is another interest I have not only to watch but also to film. I haven't done that much yet only a few family and friends weddings and part for a music video for the Damn Dirty Humans. I have a love for film due to living with a film student in my university days and the impact from my cousins and their efforts in the indie film scene. They are Chance Encounters and are brothers with a passion for B-Movie horror to Opera style Si-Fi. Starting their full length debut with "The Veil" A small town is infected by a virus and a frantic cover up is taking place. Their short film "THE TIMESLIP" is their most popular film to date playing at a number of film festivals across the UK and America where Johnathon Chance now lives. Currently in pre-production their newest film 'The Rectory', about a haunted house in the UK. "It's 1937 and Harry Price holds the keys to Borley Rectory. He then unlocked the evil..." This is sure to be an instant success on the B-Movie scene and I for one am excited to see where they go from there. This is sure to be where I became fascinated with films like The Evil Dead, Night of the Living Dead and many more gory hungry horrors! I also think this is the reason why I love looking round old derelict buildings so much and get the trill im walking through a movie set.
Myself and partner Kimberley (lead singer from Damn Dirty Humans) are both keen watchers of the Nordic Noir scene currently doing very well here in the UK along with other genres of film. 'The Bridge' being our favorite series so far from Nordic Noir but not far behind is the Killing series too. We love design and packaging of film as we both work in this industry. Some great piece's are the box sets of Game Of Thrones (blu Ray) and the limited edition of Breaking Bad TV series. There is nothing better than having a physical piece of packaging in your hand rather than streaming everything for a subscription fee and not having anything for it but I also know this is the way the world is moving. I guess it's because i'm a visual person and working in the industry I appreciate the time and work that goes into these kind of projects.
I keep a close eye on the world of art too as often as I can and visit exhibitions in the UK. A few of my favorite artist's are Picasso, Salvador Dali, Anish Kapoor and Lucian Freud whose exhibition in London National Portrait Gallery a couple of years ago was incredible and captured alot of feeling and emotions which I appreciated as I hope I do with my work, obviously not to that extent mind you. I try to make a visit every now and again to the Tate Modern in London and the WPO(world photography organisation) at Somerset House also in London. I enter their yearly competition too.
I hope you enjoy my site and keep up to date with my work I look forward to hearing from you. Please contact me via the below social media tabs for any questions you may have regarding my photography.
